The splendid Bishop’s Palace is home to a Museum that contains works of art and liturgical furnishings from early Christianity to the present: articles from Castel Durante and from the area, and also donations.
The exhibition covers fifteen rooms, in part set out as with an “atmospheric” layout to show the tastes and the passion for collecting at the Bishop’s court. The visitor’s route goes through a rich collection of paintings influenced by Metauro Mannerism, the schools of Federico Barocci, and Taddeo and Federico Zuccari. The extraordinarily flourishing workshops made thousands of works between the 13th and 20th centuries, and this collection reflects a small town that founded its cultural identity in artistic artisanship.
